Under a month out: something produced in their country, delivered locally, plus a handwritten letter posted separately — the letter will arrive late and that is fine. Over a month: ship the real thing, insured, declared honestly. Under a week: stop shopping. Build the book, send the file, and post the physical copy afterwards — the thing they open on the day can be a message that says what it is.
